Rigoletto, an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi, will return to the National Theater of Opera and Ballet after five years. The opera is staged in Tirana in cooperation with Italian theatres. The opera’s conductor, stage and costume designers as well as some singers will arrive from Italy to perform for the public at the Opera House in Tirana. The opera will be directed by Italy’s Nicola Zorzi while Manuela Gasperoni will be the costume and stage designer.
The symphonic orchestra of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet will be conducted by Vittorio Parisi. Albanian soloists Armando Kllogjeri, Eva Golemi and Vikena Kamenica will perform in the opera piece which comes as an event held in the frame of the “Italy and Albania, Two Peoples, One Sea, One Friendship” season of events.
The opera was first staged in Albania in 1965 and most recently in 2005 on the 50th anniversary of its premiere in Tirana
Verdi brings a melodrama of passion, betrayal, love and revenge. The Italian libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave based on the play “The King’s Fool” by Victor Hugo. It was first performed at La Fenice in Venice on March 11, 1851. It is considered by many to be the first of the operatic masterpieces of Verdi’s middle-to-late career.
March 20, 21, 23, 24 at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet at 19.00
