Sabri Hamiti wins national literature first prize

TIRANA, Feb. 2 – Kosovo writer and scholar Sabri Hamiti has been announced the winner of the 2010 national literature competition. He was awarded the competition’s big prize for his “Albanian poetics” research which was announced the best work published in 2010.
The jury hailed the publication for its thorough research, interpreting the Albanian literature with its codes and strategies under modern, original and contemporary research. Hamiti is the author of numerous volumes of prose, poetry and drama, as well as innovative criticism.
Nine other prizes named after some of the country’s most prominent authors were awarded in the annual National Literature Prizes held at the Albanian Culture Ministry premises.
The “Petro Marko” prize was awarded to Ramiz Gjini, while the “Lasgush Poradeci” prize went to Arian Leka for poetry book.
