Save the Date: Concert of Polish classical music

Supported by the Polish Ministry of Culture, the concert of the ART’s symphonic orchestra, composed by Albanian instrument players, will be directed by Polish conductor Jacek Rogala. The concert’s program will bring for the audience Karol KurpiŠ„ski’s ‘Queen Jadwiga’, Chopin’s ‘Rondo a’la Krakowiak’, Gà³recki’s ‘Concert for Piano’ and Mozart’s ‘Symphony no. 40 in sol minor’. Anna Miernik, well-known Polish artist, will be the solo pianist of the concert.

About the Artists

Jacek Rogala (conductor) has graduated the Music Academy in Wroclaw, Poland. In 2011, he completed his PhD in music arts from the University of Warsaw. During the 1990’s, he was assistant conductor in the Wroclaw Opera and acted as associate conductor with the Capella Bydgostiensis room orchestra, in Bydgoszez. He perfected his symphonic orchestra conducting abilities with the Cleveland symphonic orchestra, while also working in the music department of the Polish Radio in Wroclaw and acted as music advisor for the Ministry of Culture and Arts. In 2001, he was named Managing and Artistic Director of the Kielce philharmonic orchestra. He has made several recordings of parts coming from contemporary compositors and recently-discovered works. He has won the Fryderyk award in two categories: CD of the Year – Contemporary Music, and Best Recording of Polish Music.

Anna Miernik (pianist) is one of the most well-known contemporary Polish artists. She has performed in stages of various countries, such as Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chili, Columbia, France, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Luxemburg, New Zealand, etc. She has received several national and international awards. In 2015, she performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York. During her Australian, Canadian and US tour, Miernik gave 15 recitals, including a concert at the famed Sydney Opera House. During her second visit in Australia, Miernik hosted a very special concert at the Melbourne Town Hall, where exactly 111 years earlier, her great compatriot, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, had performed. She graduated with honors from the Music Academy of Cracow in 2013, after completing her piano studies. Her first album, consisting of sonatas from J. Brahms and C. Franck, was introduced in 2014. Considering her repertoire consists of the works of more than 20 polish composers, Miernik regularly performs their pieces in her concert, therefore promoting polish music abroad.
