TIRANA, April 4 – Athens-based, Albanian painter Pellumb Puci has opened an exhibition at the National Museum of History in Tirana bringing a cycle of paintings dedicated to his hometown of Gjirokastra, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2005. Called “Seasons’ colours in Gjirokastra” the exhibition features more than 100 works the artist has created during the past five years.
“In this exhibition I am represented with 130 paintings mainly in the oil technique. Gjirokastra with its monumental view has the most important place including the landscape surrounding it in its three most prominent seasons,” the painter tells reporters.
Having lived in Greece for over a decade, Pellumb Puci has participated in several exhibitions there.
“In my case the inspiration is Gjirokastra, maybe the love for it influences. Everybody leaving his homeland experiences such a feeling which can be expressed in words, music or painting,” says Puci.
The exhibition at the National Museum of History in Tirana will be open until April 10.
