TIRANA, March 13 – Albania hosted this week the 17th meeting of the committee of the peacekeeping forces and the 16th meeting of the Southeast Defense Ministerial (SEDM) which it leads based on the rotating presidency. The started in 1996 and has turned into an important factor of cooperation of the regional countries, who have all participated in multinational peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq and Lebanon.
The meeting was participated by representatives from all its member countries from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Italy, Rumania, Turkey, Slovenia, Ukraine, U.S. and countries with an observes status like Bosnia, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro and Serbia. There were also representatives from NATO, OSCE, and Stability Pact. They discussed on what has been done until now and how the member countries would further strengthen their cooperation in the military field in the future.
