Seeking improved services, health emergency transport service to become privatized

TIRANA, Aug. 18 – The transport used by the emergency clinics in Tirana will become privatized, possibly by the end of the year, in an effort to improve their service, health authorities said.

Mehill Gecaj of the health ministry said that the first step would be taken in December the privatization will occur.

The intent of the privatization is to lower costs and improve efficiency of patient transport.

As ambulances find it difficult to reach patients due to heavy traffic and other obstacles,

health authorities are considering building a hospital for the capital.
