Sequi: EU candidate status demands consensus, hard work

TIRANA, Aug 16 – Dialogue, cooperation, consensus, mobilization of efforts and resources can lead to tangible results in EU integration, says Brussels’ top man in Tirana, Ambassador Ettore Sequi, in a lengthy interview.

Mr. Ambassador we are close to a very crucial moment for Albania. In October the European Union will make a decision whether to grant or not the candidate status for our country. Where does Albania actually stand in fulfilling the 12 key priorities?

In the road to EU integration Albania stays right there where the will of the political class and the aspirations of Albanian people send it.
While I consider pretty firm the desire of the Albanian people to become future European citizens, I can saythatthe will or better the commitmentof the Albanian political class plays a crucial role in the fulfillment of the 12 key priorities, therefore in making progress in fulfilling the desire of the Albanians.
