TIRANA, July 13 – Albanian and Montenegrin sculptors will come together in the northern city of Shkodra and Montenegro’s Ulcinj to create sculptures for public parks as part of a cross border symposium. The European Union funded project will initially start in the Albanian northern town of Shkodra where 10 sculptors from Albania and Montenegro will create their marble works in the promenade of the Buna river for 20 days from July 11 to 30. Next September, the symposium will move to the Montenegrin town of Ulcinj where 10 other artists will create sculpture which will be placed in public spaces of the majority ethnic Albanian inhabited town. Meanwhile, another sculpture symposium is being held in the south-eastern city of Korca where eight international sculptors have been selected to create sculptures. The event curated by Albania’s Genti Tavanxhiu, will bring together for 10 days sculptors from Portugal, Turkey, Belgium, Romania, Spain, and Albania. The sculptures which are specially created for this event will be placed in the local Rinia park. Some 24 sculptures have been created during the symposium’s three editions and placed in the local park, one of the most visited areas of the biggest south-eastern city.
