TIRANA, March 17 – Six Western Balkan writers have been selected to participate in the Tirana in Between writer-in-residence programme supported by the TRADUKI European network for literature and books.

“The six authors will join the Tirana life for one month sharing with Albanian artists their experience, literary projects, thoughts, sensitivity, intimacy to cooperate in the enrichment of cultural life and accept the “Other” living next to who until presently was unrecognized, a foreigner and distant,” says the Culture Ministry in a statement.

The selected writers include Croatia’s Dasa Drndic, Bulgaria’s Theodora Dimova, Macedonia’s Risto Lazarov, Montengro’s Dragana Tripkovic, Romania’s Dan Coman and Serbia’s Bojan Krivokapic.

The Writer-in-Residence program “Tirana – In Between” was initiated by Poeteka cultural association and TRADUKI in March 2013. This year, it is supported also by the Ministry of Culture of Albania and other local partners.

The writers and literary translators are invited to spend four weeks in a fully equipped apartment in Tirana situated in one of the areas that have kept still something of the spirit and the traditional lifestyle of the Albanian capital.

While in Tirana, the writers and literary translators will make use of their time for work, as well as for getting familiar with the artistic and cultural life of the Albanian capital.

Besides, authors will also have presentations in Tirana and the main aim of the programme is to offer the authors from the region the occasion to know the literary and artistic and cultural panorama of Albania. At the same time, Tirana literary audience will be given a rare opening to be introduced to the work of the chosen authors, says the culture ministry.
