TIRANA, Sep 7 – An Albanian commando with the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan has contracted the swine flu virus.
The soldier was hospitalized at a Spanish hospital on a base in Herat.
Albania added more troops to its military deployment in Afghanistan ahead of the August 20 Afghan presidential poll serving under Italian command in Herat, as part of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force, ISAF.
Albania joined NATO in April.
Defense Minister Gazmend Oketa called by phone the soldier and also helped his family talk to him.
Two other soldiers feared to also have the swine flu virus, tested negative.
Some days later the soldier left the hospital after he was said to have recovered fully from the virus.
