TIRANA, June 22 – A research conducted from a coalition of some non-governmental organizations led by former President Alfred Moisiu published a ‘black list’ of 21 candidates who were not fit to run for the June 28 parliamentary elections.
The coalition had asked the political parties to offer the names of some 165 candidates who would be checked as to whether they fulfilled the basic criteria to run for a parliamentary seat.
It turned out that 21 out of 165 offered to the coalition were blacklisted and considered as inappropriate.
Some 4,300 candidates will run for 140 seats in the parliament.
The 45 political parties have been basically ranked in four coalitions, that of the governing Democrats, the main opposition Socialist Party, that of the smaller opposition Socialist Movement for Integration and the Freedom Pole of the right-wing smaller political parties.
