TIRANA, July 15 – After the successful stage in Tirana’s Imperial Cinemas, the 9th Spanish Cinema Week, “Europe on Screen” moved this week to the UNESCO city of Berat in southern Albania.
Five Spanish movies were screened in front of Berat’s public library’s square from 12 to 16 July, said the embassy in a statement.
The movies screened, in the frame of cultural events to mark the end of the Spanish EU presidency, brought a series of stories telling the changes and challenges Spain has faced during the past 50 years.
The event opened with the screening of “One franc, 14 pesetas,” a movie directed by Carlos Iglesias, in a ceremony also attended by Spanish ambassador to Albania Manuel Montobbio.
Other movies screened in the event were “The Spanish boxes,” “Sud Express”, “What I know about Lola” and “The silence before Bach.”
The Spanish cinema week will also be held in the cities of Shkodra, Durres and Pogradec.
