TIRANA, Oct. 1 – More than 20 artists from Albania and Europe are being featured in a collective exhibition at the Kalo art gallery in Tirana.
The third exhibition at Tirana newest art space is called “Split canvas” and showcases artists from Albania, Kosovo, Austria, Germany, France, Serbia and Slovenia.
“Painting by dividing the canvas and the artwork into pieces or by merging several pieces in one presents a relative difficulty, but this manner of inception and implementation of the idea, creation has some advantages, as it does not impose limits in space and time,” says Emir Hoxha, the curator of the exhibition.
“In addition, painting on separated pieces of canvas as a special artistic means creates a good opportunity to identify and bring together artists who similarly use this special communication means, wherever they come from. In other words, it can be considered as a kind of special code uniting them,” says the curator.
The exhibition features artists such as Albania’s Ardian Isufi, France’s Beatrice Richard – de Saint Jean, Germany’s Isolde Angerer, Poland’s Wido Buller, Serbia’s Dusica Pejic and Slovenia’s Lucka Koscak.
The exhibition will be open until November 5.
