TIRANA, Oct. 3 – Five Swedish cartoonists are taking a sharp and disturbing look at the climate issue in an exhibition which is being held in the northern city of Shkodra at the public art gallery. The “Facing the climate” exhibition scheduled for October 1 to 10 by looking at the climate issue from new angles, traveled to Shkodra after previous exhibitions in Tirana and Korca. “Facing the Climate” was part of a concerted drive by the Swedish Institute to promote sustainable development, under the heading “Facing the Future – Sustainability the Swedish way.” The aim is to encourage discussion about the sustainable society and heighten awareness of current environmental problems. This exhibition has toured the region and the world.
To illustrate Sweden’s commitment to climate and environment issues, the Swedish Institute launched “facing the climate” in 2010. “This exhibition aims to encourage discussion of sustainable development around the world. It aims to take a sharp look at climate issues from the viewpoint of Nordic and Balkan satirical cartoonists who blend satire and humor with a genuine appeal for a better response to environment threats we face. The images are thought-provoking and remind us all of the importance of “green living” and that climate issues must be prioritized in a global context as the world develops,” said charg顤’affaires Patrik Svensson.
