Tirana, June 23. Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha declared that his government intends to reduce the number of business permits and licenses need to start and run businesses in Albania. For the moment, different Ministries and state institutions issue a total of 160 licenses. In certain sectors of the economy, businesses need not one, but several such licenses. Prime Minister Berisha declared that the process of issuing the licenses is going to be centralised into one single institution, similar to “One-Stop-Shop” organised to register businesses in Albania. Berisha declared that his government is working to draft the necessary changes in Albanian law. Berisha said also that the new draft law is going to include the principle “Qui tacet consentire vid굵r” (silence is consent). Berisha declared that if the One Stop Shop fails to answer the needs for a business license, the license will be considered as granted and the business can began operating. (Tirana Times Staff)
