A true story of an Albanian assassin, who self inflicts penalization by voluntarily giving himself up to the police. This is the fable on which the film, “Eduard” was based, by the Greek film producer Angeliki Antoniou, who won a prize at the 47th edition of the Thesaloniki International Film Festival, held in Thessaloniki, Greece, last week. “I met the real Eduard, a young Albanian man, in prison. It took about five months for me to meet him, and later on, about one year for me to learn about him, until I decided to go to Albania in person and get to know his family at first hand,” said the local media producer, on Sunday, at the prize awarding ceremony. At this ceremony, “Eduard”was proclaimed the best Greek film for 2006. This prize was awarded by the International Federation of Cinematographic Critics. The film “Eduard” is a Gree-German co-production. The Greek producer has brought in well known actors and actresses from four different countries, Albania, Kosovo, Greece and Germany, starring Eshref Durmishi as Eduard and other well known actors from Albania, Ndri読 Xhepa plays the officer Rahman. Ermela Teli plays Natasha and Gazmend Gjoka. They received very high ratings for their acting in the local media. I was so happy that a whole mixture of excellent actors, very visibly combined, from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and Germany participate in this film. Irrespective of the fact that they all come from a limited school of acting, the Albanian actors are exceptionally talented,” the Greek producer said when receiving the award.
