Theatre of Comedy opens new season with premiere

TIRANA, Sept. 11 – A comedy written and directed by Erjon Kame will open the new season at the Theatre of Comedy in Tirana. Dashuri e Harruar (Forgotten Love) will premiere on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 20.00 bringing on stage veteran actors such as Genc Fuga and Xhevahir Zeneli and young performers Elia Zaharia, Helidon Fino.
The comedy focuses on deceit featuring a couple where the woman has an extramarital affair. He husband has a car accident and goes into a coma for 20 years and can’t remember anything after he wakes up.
The Theatre of Comedy was established under a government decision in early 2011 as a necessity to further support comedy and satire in Albania.
Both the Theatre of Comedy and the National Circus are part of a new law on art and culture approved in 2010 foreseeing the establishment of a National Centre for Arts and Culture and the opening of the Theatre of Comedy and a Circus.
The need to change the performing arts law into the arts law came after shortcomings in the implementation of the current law and the degradation of some institutions which operated based on law dating back to 1993.
