TIRANA, Dec. 8 – More than 70 movies have been selected for the eighth edition of the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF), the first and only international cinema festival of its kind in Albania scheduled to be held from December 13 to 18.
The movies, picked out of 500 applications from all over the world, compete in five categories including feature films, short fiction, short experimental, short documentary and short animation.
Renowned international directors will be present during the week-long festival.
This eighth edition of TIFF brings several important novelties. For the first time, TIFF announces a feature film competition along with its prestigious shorts program. TIFF also extends its program to six days, December 13 – 18 in order to encompass not only the competing short and feature films, but also to allow for retrospectives, seminars, classes, press events and special presentations at theatres all over the Albanian capital.
TIFF’s daily agenda also includes master classes with professionals in the motion picture industry geared for Albanian students of the cinema and emerging filmmakers.
Above all, it is the aim of the Tirana International Film Festival to create a meeting point for film artists and cinema enthusiasts from Albania, the Balkans and the entire world to come together and share their linked passion and knowledge of the motion picture art form.
Created in 2003, this extraordinary cultural event takes place under the auspices of the Albanian National Center for Cinematography (QKK).
