Tirana Art Days brings Eliza Dushku back to Albania

TIRANA, Oct. 3 – Movies, documentaries, exhibitions and concerts are some of the events that are being held in the capital as part of the first Tirana Art Days, an event organized by the Tirana City Hall.
The three-day event scheduled for Oct. 4 to 6 kicked off on Thursday with the screening of the winning movies in the Anifest Rozafa international animated film festival recently held in Shkodra to continues with a documentary on Tirana and an installation called Neighborhood. Exhibitions with selected artworks were also displayed at the Hekla and Zenit galleries.
The event will culminate on Friday, Oct. 5 when Hollywood actress, American-Albanian Eliza Dushku will be in Tirana to launch her “Dear Albania” documentary promoting Albania as a tourist destination following her trip to Albania in the summer of 2011. The documentary will make its premiere at the Millennium cinema in Tirana at 18.00.
Eliza Dushku visited her homeland in 2011 to discover both the old and the new Albania. Alongside her brother Nate, Albanian-American photographer Fadil Berisha, boyfriend Rick Fox, and some famous Albanians, she blazed a trail from the capital city Tirana to the sandy and rocky beaches of the Albanian Riviera and the rugged villages of the Albanian Alps.
The 30-year-old actress is most known for her role Faith in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and as Echo in “Dolhouse” series as well as the upcoming “Locked In” and “Torchwood: Web of Lies”
Dushku’s father is Albanian- American and her mother is of Danish and English descent.
A rock concert and the promotion of the “Tirana Contemporaneita Sospesa” by Italian architect Andrea Bulleri will also be held on Friday. The Albanian Centre for Albanology Studies has also planned an exhibition called “100 years of independence” at the FAP gallery. The event will conclude Saturday with a photo exhibition by Kosovo-born, U.S based fashion photographer Fadil Berisha.
