TIRANA – The Municipality of Tirana will support disadvantaged people in their business efforts with a Euro 700,000 grant it has received from the EU IPA-Adriatic programme. The project, to be launched in October, will make possible the creation of a policy and a regulatory framework in support of small businesses that will be developed by disadvantaged social groups like persons with disabilities, women heads of households and ethnic minorities.
Deputy Tirana Mayor Jorida Tabaku says vocational training education will also be offered to young people in order to create equal opportunities in the labour market.
“We hope that these businesses which will be set up under this project will serve as pilot to create a model that will direct the future policies in this sector and will orient the continuation of starting similar businesses in the Municipality of Tirana but also the extension of this model in other municipalities and communes of the country” added Tabaku.
