The Tirana Times publishing house has brought into Albanian the 2009 Nobel Prize winner for literature, Germany’s Herta Muller, with her “Der Mensch ist ein groࠥr Fasan auf der Welt” (The Passport). The book translated under the “Njeriu eshte nje fazan i madh mbi toke” title, is the first Muller has had translated into Albanian.
About the book
The Passport is a beautiful, haunting novel whose subject is a German village in Romania caught between the stifling hopelessness of Ceausescu’s dictatorship and the glittering temptations of the West.
