TIRANA, Jan.30- The price of cigarette is bound to increase this year, possibly doubling in price. Every year Albanians spend more than 20 million euro for tobacco products. According to the national Coordinator for antismoking policies, the price increase is aimed at reducing the tobacco addiction of Albanians. Up until now, the law against smoking in public places has yielded few results except the issuing of 270 penalties to bars and coffee shops. The delays in collecting these penalties has discouraged the following of the law. Also, following the creation of the law, the amount of tobacco entering the country through customs has decreased by 750 tons though consumption remains high.
