SARANDA, Sep. 8 – President Bamir Topi said while traveling to the southernmost town of Saranda that the country’s judiciary will undergo deep reform.

Topi said that reforming the judiciary was a primary challenge for the country, “a system for which it is not enough just to say it has problems.”

He said that besides bureaucracy the corruption was a major obstacle.

“That (corruption) is a problem that should be coped by the whole society Š(because) the reform in the judiciary will give opportunities to the Albanian society Što get rid of the steps that keep them backward and finally set them on the road to a market economy,” he said.

The president said that the judiciary had problems linked with the administration, property ownership and other factors.

“Together with the actors in the parliament we are determined to launch a deep reform in the judiciary system that would guarantee a psychological calmness and a clear perspective for all the citizens,” said Topi.

But he did not make it clear what he meant by a ‘deep reform,” how that would be done and what clear results are expected.

The president also said that the electoral reform was another top priority of his work.
