TIRANA, July 17 – A tourist information office has opened in the northeastern region of Kukes, famous for its mountain tourism, to assist international tourists with the necessary information. The tourist info centre is a joint initiative of the embassy of the Czech Republic embassy in Albania and the Kukes municipality. Czech ambassador to Albania Bronislava Tomasova said the new office will provide all tourists, a considerable number of whom are Czechs with the necessary information about the tourist resources in the northeastern region of Kukes and necessary directions.
Kukes Mayor Hasan Halilaj said the tourist information centre would further develop tourism in northeastern Albanian region by promoting the region’s tourist destinations.
Situated in the Kukes town, the tourist info centre will provide tourists with leaflets on destinations such as the Valbona valley in Tropoja, the national park of Shishtavec and other tourist attractions. The Kukes Region includes three sections: Kukes, Has (Shistavec), Tropoja (Bajram Curri, Lake Koman and Valbona Valley). It is also home to the Balkans Peace Park which consists of mountain ranges through Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo.
Valbona Valley is the most popular location for locals and foreigners alike to visit in the Kukes Region. The valley is dominated by high mountains which offer fantastic views and varying colorful, seasonal panoramas. There are a number of spectacular waterfalls and sandy banks located in Valbona Village.
