TIRANA, May 14 – Two Kosovo artists have arrived in Tirana in two separate photo and sculpture exhibitions.
Kosovo artist Sabri Shaqiri has opened a solo exhibition at the National Museum of History in Tirana, displaying a series of sculptures.
“The exhibition is a minimalist and modern approach in sculpture creations dominating two expressions almost completely different from marble to wood. Works carved in marble such as fish, portraits etc are seen in clear shapes reminding us of the clarity of organic ideal form by Brancusi, who is known as a pioneer of modern and postmodern sculpture,” curators say.
Sabri Shaqiri, 46, graduated from the Prishtina Faculty of Figurative Arts in sculpture in 1994. His exhibition at the National Museum of History will remain open until May 16.
Meanwhile, Kososo photographer Artan Humolli is displaying a series of pictures he has taken in the past five years with five models from Kosovo whom he describes as his muses.
“The Body and Spirit exhibition is a compilation of pictures, personal work which has been dedicated to nobody, but to my own artistic intentions. There are 29 pictures from the 2009-2014 period,” says Humolli.
His collection displays women unveiling their sensuality in beautiful, charming and daring pictures.
The exhibition includes pictures which have been published in the prestigious Photo magazine in France and pictures which have won international awards. His exhibition at the National Gallery of Arts will be open from May 15 to 25.
