TIRANA, Sept. 2 – The Albanian government has announced two 35-year concession tenders on two small hydropower plants in northern and southeastern Albania.

In an announcement published on the Public Procurement Agency, the Energy Ministry says it will award a 35-year concession on the Viliq hydropower in the Fierza lake with the tender scheduled on October 23.

The ministry has also scheduled a tender for October 19 on the Osoje HPP in the Devoll cascade, southeastern Albania.

The launch of the Ashta hydropower plants in late 2012 and the operation of several new smaller HPPs, has more than doubled electricity generated by private and concession HPPs in Albania, according to a report by energy regulator ERE.
