TIRANA, March 4 – Albanian Football Federation banned two football clubs from playing for two years and also a fine of 500,000 leke each following last Saturday’s violence during a match in southernmost Saranda and northern Puka. They were also lowered to the next category.
Terbuni of Puka and Butrinti of Saranda cannot play in the 1st category championship for the next two years. The remaining matches in this championship will be considered lost for them.
Last Saturday the life of the referees was seriously threatened during their match.
Six players who beat the referees were also fined 200,000 leke each and banned from playing for the next six years.
There was massive violence against referees in the two matches played in Puka and Saranda when not only players but also fans entered the pitch to beat the referees.
