U.S. ambassador awarded medal from Albanian president

TIRANA, June 5 – U.S. Ambassador to Tirana, Marcie B. Ries, was awarded the Medal of Gratitude from Albanian President Alfred Moisiu prior to her leaving her post after two and a half years.
The medal was awarded as a sign of respect and in view of her contribution and diplomatic activities to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
Ries will be transferred to a post in Iraq, together with her husband who is currently ambassador to neighboring Greece.
Ries will leave the country following the visit of her President, George W. Bush on Sunday.
