TIRANA, April 4 – U.S. Ambassador to Tirana Marcie B. Ries appealed Wednesday to the Albanian political forces to find a compromise in electing the next president in the parliament. She also hailed the efforts from the majority Democrats on creating a special parliamentary committee with representatives from all the parties for the electoral reform. “Consensus is also valid for the president’s election which resembles more with a chemical reaction in which all elements should be present to realize it,” said Ries in a meeting she had with the new Integration Minister Majlinda Bregu. Ries considered these two issues as very important for the country’s integration process but also for the maturity of the political class. She also urged authorities to speed up reforms in the process of integration into the European Union and NATO, for which America offered all the required support and assistance.
