DURRES, July 3 – A World War II shell was found in Durres port while fishing boats were on strike.
The shell was found about 50 meters from the ferry dock.
Police and mine experts removed the shell from the area.
Experts said there was no danger of explosion from the shell, which is believed to have remained in the waters since World War II when Nazi Germans mined the port.
This was the fourth shell found at the port in the last two years.
A Danish company deepening the port had found three other shells. Following their discovering the unexploded shells, the Danes left without completing the work but asking for more funds.
