“The programs will be mostly Wagner, centered on our Tannh嶳er, but also a little Verdi (for birthday’s sake), and Albanian opera excerpts,” says musical director Jonathan Khuner
TIRANA, April 29 – Having already staged Verdi’s La Traviata, Albania will also commemorate Wagner in this year dedicated to the bicentennial of two of the world’s greatest composers.
American tenor Roy Stevens who last year masterfully performed in the Skanderbeg opera ahead of Albania’s centenary of independence will be back in Albania to perform to Wagner’s Tannh嶳er in a show featuring a mostly U.S cast of singers and musicians next November. Stevens was selected to perform the lead role of Skanderbeg in the opera composed by Prenk Jakova on the national hero’s 500th death anniversary in 1968 last June.
Tenor Roy Stevens, sopranos Annalisa Winberg, Carolina Stevens and Richard Goodman, baritone all accompanied by Jonathan Khuner will be performing in Wagner’s first Albanian birthday concert. This concert will feature music from Tannh嶳er, Die Walk
