TIRANA, Albania — US Ambassador to Tirana, John L. Withers, said last week to Albanian political parties and electoral officials that it was crucial that the tallying process for the June 28th parliamentary election was conducted in accordance with the Electoral Code.
“The process has to be transparent, professional and not politicized,” Withers said.
The Central Elections Commission is addressing claims from parties that allege irregularities have surfaced in a few regions. Tallying is in its final stage now, after more than two weeks since the June 28 parliamentary polls.
The Electoral College is to consider complaints before the CEC makes the last calculations and provides official results.
