TIRANA, June 4 – With a rainbow of watercolors featuring mostly landscapes from all over Albania, veteran painter Rakip Shabani has opened a solo exhibition at the National Art Gallery in Tirana.
The exhibition comprised of 50 watercolor paintings, mainly includes landscapes from different areas of Albania with a special focus on the Vlora coastline, the gallery says in a statement.
Rakipi, now in his 70s, is also known for his portraits of Ali Pasha, a famous 18th century ruler of Janina (present Ioannina) and southern Albania known as the Lion of Janina, which he showcased in an exhibition at the National Gallery in 2006.
The veteran painter with almost four decades of experience continues painting transforming his world of art into a sensitive conversation with colours, creating fresh and transparent works which rank him as one of the best watercolor painters in Albania.
The exhibition will remain open at the National Gallery of Art until June 14.
