Violent acts keep police busy with arrests

TIRANA, June 6 – Violent attacks on persons increased significantly this week, despite intensive police work to prevent violence.
On Tuesday evening, Fatime Kasemi, 55, was killed by still unidentified persons. Kasemi was going home after running a small fast food bar. All her belongings were taken by the attackers.
A police operation, codenamed Skorrano, resulted in the arrest of Ardian Muca, 17, who used a gun to rob two people.
In another criminal act, unidentified persons killed Adem Hidri as they were burglarising his house.
Azem Leka, 65, was arrested Tuesday after he threatened three people with a weapon after they argued over property.
Nderi Osmani, 25, was arrested after allegedly shot in the air with an automatic rifle.
Selman Sherifi, 39, and Vladimir Shameti, 37, both residents of Tirana, were found with a cache of weapons in their car. Police found three pistols, dynamite, and some rounds of bullets.
Gezim Prelaj, 36, was arrested for using force while stealing a considerable amount of money from another person. Prelaj grabbed the money after hitting and kicking the victim.
