FUSHE KRUJA, Dec.1 – Six people died Monday evening in the Fushe Kruja-Lac road segment after a Mercedes car collided with an ambulance van.
The driver of the ambulance and five young men in the Mercedes died.
The Fushe Kruja-Lac highway, which connects the Albanian capital Tirana with northern Albania is often the scene of deadly traffic accidents, dubbed by drivers the ‘highway of death.’
According to a World Bank study 384 fatal car accidents were recorded in Albania in 2007, or 13,9 deaths in car accidents per 100,000 people, slightly higher than the EU average.
