87 Albanians blocked entrance or turned back from Greece

GJIROKASTER, Jan. 15 – Gjirokastra police in collaboration with the Greek police of Ioanninna held an operation codenamed Green Net 2 to prevent Albanians from entering Greece illegally.

Albanian police stopped 67 Albanians who were trying to cross the border illegally while Greek police turned back 20 Albanians.

Doubts on death of a woman from meningitis

TIRANA, Jan. 16 – Health Minister Nard Ndoka along with other top health officials appealed for calm Wednesday assuring the population there would be no spread of a meningitis epidemic in the country.

The health officials also denied that the death of a 53-year old woman from Durres was caused by meningitis, adding her death was caused by other problems.

The number of meningitis cases has increased to nine, but health officials assured the public they are sporadic.
