VLORA, Nov. 23 – The ancient town of Amantia will be soon open to tourist to be visited. That is the second national archaeological park in the district following that of Onufri. The Amantia Park has been completed with the staff and is preparing some projects next year that will put it at the disposal of the visitors. The park was included into the objects protected fro the authorities only some months ago. A considerable funding was used to be reconstructed considered as very important for cultural tourism in the area. Many experts say that Amantia resembles Apolonia in Fieri. The park is located some 50 kilometers southwest of the port city. The first excavations started there some 40 years ago. Besides the surrounding walls archaeologists have discovered a stadium, the Aphrodite temple, necropolis and other items. Amantia has been founded at the 5 century B.C. and was inhabited from amants, one of the Illyria’s groups of the time. Ti has played an important role in the fight against the Roman Empire.
