TIRANA, Feb. 25 – Konfindustria, the association of Albanian businessmen, has asked Albanian authorities to pay greater attention to the road network linking the country with neighboring Kosova, especially following the latter’s independence which opens new possibilities of cooperation between the two countries.
Konfindustria further noted that following the harsh winter the situation on roads in that part of Albania is grave. Road maintenance is not being properly funded as monies were spent on construction of the Durres-Morini highway. However, there still 15 months of work until the road project is completed.
The group said also warned the poor road linking Kosova and Albania will harm the country’s tourism industry which has recently brought as much as half a billion Euros from Kosovar citizens traveling to Albania’s seaside.
Lastly, Konfindustria asked the government to allocate more funds for the maintenance of this road network.
