TIRANA, June 2 – Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha took part in an international conference entitled, “International compact with Iraq” held in Stockholm. Albania is one of the countries that has posted an army unit to Iraq. Some 100 delegations took part in the conference, including U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Mailiki, to discuss the coordination of the work from the international community in stabilizing, developing and integrating Iraq in the regional and global economy. Basha met during the conference with Ban Ki-moon, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, EU foreign policy commissioner Javier Solana and officials from other countries to discuss Albania’s membership into NATO and the EU, EU visa liberalization and Kosova developments.
