MILOT, June 29 – Police authorities suspended a police officer in the northern town of Milot who had not acted to keep a political meeting under control. Edi Rama was holding a meeting in Milot when Mikel Preci, 48, began to argue and, eventually, disrupted the meeting. A policeman sent there to take care of security in the meeting, Frrok Prenga, did not intervene to bring order and was, consequently, suspended for not doing his duty.
Some saw the police suspension as a sign of new police efforts to play an impartial role in the political dialogue in the country, something that has never been performed, despite pledges from top police officials. (Tirana Times Staff)
