Imprisoned women on hunger strike

TIRANA, July 9 – Seven imprisoned women held a five-day hunger strike as they sought reconsideration of their arrests and a meeting with prosecutors. The women have been charged with theft, drug use and prostitution. In exchange for halting their hunger strike, prison authorities contacted the prosecutor’s offices to expedite trial proceedings for the group. (Tirana Times Staff)
