TIRANA, Aug 9 – New Health Minister, Anila Godo, seems to have begun a reshuffle of the ministry’s cabinet upon her arrival.
It seems that the target of such a reshuffle are the heads of the departments starting with the cabinet chief.
Godo was brought into Prime Minister Sali Berisha’s cabinet in a surprise move during the last reshuffle to replace Nard Ndoka of the Christian Democratic Party, a government coalition partner.
Godo came from the Republican party ranks, and is the daughter of its president, Sabri Godo, following recent party demands to regain a government post since losing a ministry in March.
Party leader Fatmir Mediu resigned form the defense minister’s post after the March 15 blast in the ammunition disposal factory which killed 26 and injured 300 persons. The Republican party is the second strongest force in the governing coalition with considerable parliamentary strength.
The public medical system in Albania is thought to be entangled with corruption among the medical staff and suffering from a lack of medications and proper health services. (Tirana Times Staff)
