TIRANA, Sep 16 – Parliament’s Monday session was preoccupied by the political fight between the opposition and Prime Minister Sali Berisha over the death of businessman Kosta Trebicka and his involvement in the March 15 blast in the Gerdec ammunition disposal factory.
The opposition, again, accused Berisha of being personally involved in that tragedy and also hinted that the premier was also responsible for Trebicka’s death.
Berisha, however, said that the preliminary investigation showed Trebicka’s death was an accident, adding he was more interested than any other individual to get to the bottom of the cause of the Gerdec tragedy.
Berisha appealed to lawmakers to wait until the end of the investigation and not exploit the death for political reasons.
Some lawmakers, such as the opposition Social Democratic leader Skender Gjinushi or independent (former Democrat) Spartak Ngjela directly accused Berisha of personal involvement in what they called Trebicka’s murder.
