TIRANA, Oct 2 – Scores of miners coped with the rain to protest in front of the parliament headquarters downtown Tirana asking for their pension and better working conditions.
In another move a small group of them are in a hunger strike since a week.
Miners shortly scuffled with police who tried to take their trade union leader Fiqiri Xibri.
Following that they asked for a meeting with the premier or one of his advisers threatening they may block roads and other public services around the country.
The miners want a secure pension and shorter working time due to the hard working conditions and fear of their life.
Many miners have died recently in different areas around the country, mainly due to the poor working conditions.
Besides they get a small pension of about 10,000 leks which they want to increase.
