TIRANA, Nov 9 – International legal counseling mission advised Tirana officials and politicians to make a complete legal context on lifting the immunity of senior posts and not only a few laws.
EURALIUS and OPDAT missions made that clear in a letter on justice issues sent to the parliamentary commission in charge of legal reforms.
They said that one or a few legal amendments would not be enough to resolve the issue.
At the same time they suggested that amending the constitution would not be preferable.
Immunity of parliamentarians and other senior posts in the administration has turned into a hot political topic between the two main political groupings. Though both say they want no immunity stating from the lawmakers they still disagree on the level and how that immunity is to be lifted.
