TIRANA, Nov 17 – Albanian Foreign Ministry strongly denounced the explosion at European Union’s headquarters in neighboring Kosova considering it an isolated act which, nevertheless, damaged the spirit of cooperation among the Kosova institutions and the international community.
Kosova police said attackers threw an explosive device at the EU’s headquarters amid rising tensions over the bloc’s plan for a police mission to the country. Nobody was hurt in the attack that slightly damaged the EU office.
The EU has agreed to send a mission to work with the police and judiciary after Kosova’s declaration of independence from Serbia in February.
The Foreign Ministry also highly evaluated the immediate response, reaction of Kosovar authorities towards this “shameful act.”
Albania also supports Kosova that rejected the six-point plan.
Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha said that Tirana was carefully following with serious concern the latest developments in Kosova.
“Prishtina has its aspirations to continue the implementation of the Ahtisaari Plan. Albania fully supports Prishtina’s stance against the six-point plan and calls for quick deployment of EULEX in the entire territory of Kosovo,” said Basha.
Basha also criticized the way dialogue was conducted between UN and Belgrade by largely ignoring Prishtina. “Kosova is a sovereign country and has its legitimate power guaranteed by its sovereign constitution to accept or reject such decisions. Albania supports their decision to categorically reject this plan.”
