TIRANA, Nov 18 – Albanian Helsinki Committee expressed its concern over the situation of the Albanian prisons.
The organization monitored some of them in the country noting a number of problems urging their fast solution.
Women situation at the pre-detention was one of them. It also said there was an over-population of the prisons. The committee also said that living conditions at those prisons sheltering women left much to desire.
There were also noted problems with the water and power supply, and the meeting spots in bad conditions. Women also lacked a proper medical attention.
International institutions have always urged Albania to improve the treatment of prisoners and their stay in “inhuman conditions” in several jails.
