TIRANA, Dec 8 – A local private television station, News24, last week began broadcasting a new episode of Justice Matters, a five-part series on Albania’s justice system.
The program is supported by USAID through its Rule of Law program.
Its topics cover different issues such as the length of court proceedings and enforcement of court decisions, justice perceptions, court infrastructure and delays in justice.
Justice Matters hopes to give the Albanian public a better understanding of the Albanian legal systems and, thus, help improve the quality, transparency, and accountability of courts.
Justice and corruption has been recognized as main shortcomings in post-communist Albania.
Guests on the show include judges, prosecutors, lawyers, representatives from government agencies, law professors, law students and representatives of other members of the Albanian legal system.
