TIRANA, July 21 – Thousands of Albanian immigrants have been arriving at all the country’s entrance points by land, sea and air this month to pass their vacations back home.
They have been joined by thousands of Kosovars trying to enjoy the Albanian beaches, also assisted by the new road taking them there by a shorter route.
If border crossing points have managed to keep the situation under control, that did not do so on the main road by the Durres beach, from the cross road of Plepa to Golem.
The long queues of cars which passed for hours over the weekend also blocked the workers trying to rehabilitate the road.
Police could do nothing, only adding to the confusion of the traffic that often took four-five hours only to cross 10 kilometers.
