TIRANA, Sep 16 – In a letter of congratulations to the new Albanian foreign minister, Ilir Meta, his Italian counterpart Franco Frattini pledged his country’s full support.
“I am thinking in particular the achievement of European goal,” he wrote.

Albania has made significant strides, and sometimes not easy, on its path towards Euro-Atlantic institutions, a journey which should now be followed with equal determination,” he wrote adding that, “Tirana may continue to count on Italy’s friendship and support.”
